Faces explores the idea that every human being carries more than one face—the person we experience within ourselves and the person we choose to show to the world. Through life, the artist has observed and experienced this duality in people, and even within herself. There seems to be a version of us that exists in our private world—shaped by our true emotions, vulnerabilities, thoughts and experiences—and another version that we present to society. Are these two selves naturally different? Or have we learned to make them different in order to belong, protect ourselves, or meet the expectations around us? The artwork is an abstract exploration of these two sides of human identity—the self we know and the self we reveal. It reflects the quiet question of whether anyone truly lives as only one version of themselves.
